Double Postgraduate with an MBA at University of Hull, U.K. along with M. Com from MDU; Ph.D. in, ‘Food grain Logistics: Scope for Mechanisation and Bulk transport’ inspired from a passion for the subject developed during a stint with the Ministry of Food and Civil supplies; Completed an LLB from University of Delhi in 2002.

Selected as a Probationary Officer with State Bank of India in 1978 and successfully worked in the banking industry before selection in IRTS through the Indian Civil Services 1981 Exam. Served for 31 years in Indian Railway Traffic Service in various capacities on assignments across many zones under the Indian Railways, Southern, Northern, East Central and South Central; Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies, Railway Board, CRIS, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), Rail Land Development Authority, Indian Railway Station Development Corporation and thereafter in Railway Claims Tribunal, first as member and then as Vice Chairman, retiring at the Apex scale of Govt. of India in year 2017.

Associated with Territorial Army for 23 years from 1986 and retired at the rank of Lt. Col. in year 2009.

Associated with professional bodies as Member of Association of British Scholars, Institute of Rail Transport, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Centre for Transportation Research and Management.

Post superannuation empaneled as Arbitrator with National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), IRCTC and various Zonal Railways. Counsellor with IGNOU study centre, Institute of Rail Transport and Institute of Permanent Way Engineers for some of their academic programs.
