Vinod Asthana, did his schooling at St. Francis School, Lucknow and University from Allahabad.

He is a Law graduate and did his Management from IIFT, New Delhi. An officer of Indian Railway Traffic Service, he has wide experience of the Commercial, Operations, Logistics, Transportation, Planning, and Marketing on the Indian Railways. He has worked with distinction getting awards at Mumbai & Delhi. He was nominated to represent Indian Railways at the World Tourism Meet in London. He also attended the Hospitality Fair at Colonge, Germany. He has also travelled widely to different countries especially on issues relating to logistics, catering infrastructure, supply chain etc. He is associated with Chartered Institute of Logistic & Transport, U.K as Office Bearer, Centre for Transport Research & Management, Delhi; Institute of Rail Management. He is on the visiting faculty on the various institutions in Mumbai, Ahmedabad & Baroda, besides Delhi. Recently, in the year 2010, he has deliberated and presented papers at various Seminar including one at International Seminar of CII on “Food Safety”; at ANQ Congress International seminar on “Quality and Service” & also at “International Food Expo” organised by ‘Ministry of Food Processing’ in November’10.
